8 Weeks Ago and Counting (My sister In-Law) part two
Monday, July 6th, 2009This is just an update about my darling sister in-law who lost her foot and ankle to Diabetes, She has been rescheduled three times for evaluation purposes, and finally had tests performed on her leg three weeks ago. The results of said test were to determine the well being and current state of her leg and in now after that long wait she would have to return to schedule her skin graphs. Well the day is here she again had the misfortune to loose more of her leg, but this time it was to fortify where the prosthetic would eventually be.
She was kept in the hospital for three full days much to my relief. I am very grateful that the current state of her leg seems to be on it’s way to healing properly, but I worry of others who do not have family to help through this type of ordeal. I have to express that I am also irritated at our health care system.
I know that anyone in this situation just has to grin and bare it. I also know that in today’s’ world the lack of compassion goes hand in hand with just plain apathy for those, that people are not acquainted with directly, this is also something that is more common than not. We all have to strive for those things in our live that we need and want, no one should ever have to strive so hard just to stay alive.
I see a bleak outcome for some of the people in need who I ran across in the waiting room these last couple of months and frankly proclaiming to be humane is not good enough. when you are talking about people, as for my sister in-law I have seen a glimmer in her eyes with the prospect of a prosthesis in sight now I am truly grateful for the turn out and I pray for an overall healing.
I have traded changing the bandages to another family member for being the designated driver for doctor visits, and someone is taking over that job next week. I am still looking for work and have neglected a lot of household chores and rightly so, but you know how it goes some work is never done
